  • AMET202 Electrical Circuits Theory       15 Clock Hrs

The objective of this course is to cover electrical concepts used in Ohms Law.  Students will be able to explain atomic theory, electromotive force, resistance, forces that are characteristic of alternating current systems.  AC and DC motors, circuit breakers and fuses, and calculate electric power equations.  There are no prerequisite for this course.

  • AMET203 National Electrical Code     15 Clock Hrs

The objective of this course is to provide a navigational road map for using the NEC.  Students will be able to identify the layout of the NEC and retrieve types of information found within the code book.  There are no prerequisite for this course.

  • AMET204 Hand Bending 15 Clock Hrs

The objective of this course is to cover conduit bending and installation, techniques for using hand-operated and step conduit benders, cutting, reaming, threading, and bending all sizes of conduit, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical benders.  There are no prerequisite for this course.

  • AMET205 Conductors and Cables   15 Hrs

The objective of this course is to familiarize students with modern wiring technology concepts, components and applications.  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to install conductors in a raceway system, identify the appropriate size for applications of raceways, and use proper wiring techniques.  There are no prerequisite for this course.

  • AMET206 Electrical Test Equipment     15 Hrs

The objective of this course is to cover proper selection, and use of common electrical test equipment.  Students will be able to demonstrate usage of voltage testers, clamp-on ammeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, phase/motor rotation testers, and data recording equipment.  There are no prerequisites for this course.

  • AMET207 Electrical Lab 20 Hrs

The objective of this course is to provide hands on operation and technical details on various electrical equipment.  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to service and install electrical systems.  This course is tailored to meet the needs of a beginner student or to enhance the knowledge of a person with existing experience.  Previous electrical courses are required.

  • AMET300 Ag Safety and Industry Skills  30 Hrs

This course provides information and skills needed to enable safety and anticipate, recognize, and prevent injuries among members of the agricultural community.  Identify the appropriate use and selection of personal protective equipment for protection from agricultural hazards. There are no prerequisites for this course.

  • AMET301 Electricity For Ag Technicians    30 Hrs

Students apply the fundamentals of electricity and electronics as it relates to the tractor electrical system.  Students gain an understanding of the basic electrical system, reading schematics used to diagnosis these systems and how to apply test procedures for the circuits being studied.  Students will learn the various test equipment and meters.  Students will apply the proper use of the test equipment while learning the basic electrical systems and repair procedures.  AMET300 Ag Safety and Industry Skills required for this course.

  • AMET302 Basic Hydraulics    60 Hrs

Students disassemble, inspect, and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and valves.  Students apply hydraulic theory and principles by drawing hydraulic systems using ISO symbols.  Students operate open and closed center hydraulic simulators to relate to the differences in pressure and flow.

  • AMET303 Welding for Mechanics   60 Hrs

Instruction in safe setup and operation of plasma cutting(PAC), oxy-fuel cutting(OFC), SMAW(Stick), GMAW(Mig), FCAW, and/or GTAW(Tig) welding in applications related to general industry practices.  Selection of appropriate welding processes with a specific emphasis on typical repair situations including metal identification will be stressed.

  • AMET304 Chassis and Drive Systems 60 Hrs

Students diagnose and repair “live” power train problems which include clutches, transmissions, differentials, and PTOs.  Students build skills necessary to diagnose and repair trains on approved projects.  Students use time management techniques during lab instruction while performing diagnostic tests and repairs.  Students also use the latest computer resource information to gather parts and service information.  AMET302 Basic Hydraulics required for this course.

  • AMET305 Basic Engines 60 Hrs

This class will provide the learner with an in depth look at how internal combustion engines operate.  The learner will be able to identify, measure, and inspect parts of the internal combustion engine, with diesel engines used in agriculture machinery the main area of focus.

  • AMET306 Diesel Engine Theory 60 Hrs

This course will provide the learner with a basic understanding of the diesel engine.  The design and operating principles of the engine, cooling, fuel, intake, exhaust systems, and lubrication systems will be examined. AMET305 Basic Engines is required for this course.

  • AMET307 Ag Power Occupational Internship 60 Hrs

Students apply technical theory and skills on the job. Students diagnose and repair agricultural tractors and equipment.  Students practice good communication and customer relation skills.  Students develop appropriate employment attitudes.

  • CAR501 Career Counseling         10 Hrs

The objective of this course is to assist students in making career choices.  This course focuses on self-assessment in terms of educational and career opportunities and reasonable possibilities in the world of work.  Includes assessment for personal/career interests, values, needs, attitudes, skills, and other potential, and exploration of occupational information to establish career and educational goals.  Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to make sound career choices.  Students must have completed all program courses and internship for this course.
