Timely Warnings, Emergency Notification & Emergency Preparedness
Agri-Tech eLearning Institute Utilizes our Stars notification system for the purpose of communicating with the campus community upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or emergency situation deemed an immediate threat to the health or safety of our students and staff. By default, all students become apart of this emergency notification system. Student telephone numbers provided to faculty and staff at the time of admission is used for all messaging alerts.
In the event a situation arises—either on or off campus—a “timely warning” will be issued so long that it is deemed as immediate threat to the Agri-Tech eLearning Institute community. Notices may be sent via text message, voice mail, or email or posted to the Agri-Tech eLearning Institute homepage.
Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures
Agri-Tech eLearning InstituteI has established emergency response and evacuation procedures to ensure that it is prepared for emergency situations. The Houston Police Department are first responders for all emergencies, including police, fire, and medical emergencies. In the event of a fire, call 911 first! HPD responds to all calls for service and addresses any hazardous situation it encounters during patrol operations or that is reported. The Agri-Tech eLearning Institute Security Officer is the Incident Commander for all confirmed emergency situations and will determine the content of the message and identify the segment(s) of the community to be notified.
In the interest of safety for the members of our community, Agri-Tech eLearning Institute will initiate an alert without delay unless the notification will, in the professional judgment of responsible authorities, compromise efforts to assist victims or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency.
The Agri-Tech eLearning Institute Security Officer is responsible for the maintenance, review, and revision of the Agri-Tech eLearning Institute’s emergency response and evacuation plans and coordinates regular tests of the emergency response and evacuation procedures on at least an annual basis. These tests may be announced or unannounced and each will be documented with a description of the exercise, the date and time, and whether the test was announced or unannounced.
